Don't put me down!

By Marley Henry · 9 March 2021

Don't put me down! Babies like to he close to their food source, warmth and affection. After spending 9 months inside with security, warmth and food on tap, it takes a while for baby's to adjust.

Babies don't understand why they have been separated from you and they don't like it. Remember that you cannot spoil a newborn baby from holding them lots.

Those first few months can be super tough (believe me I've been there a few times) but if you are pregnant with your first baby, expect that the initially you won't get much done other than caring for your newborn.

Try and enlist as much support as you can and prioritise - what really needs to be done at home and what can wait.

Wear your baby - using a baby sling can be really helpful, enabling you to have your hands free.

Look at the first 3 -4 months as an adjustment phase. This may help relieve the pressure from yourself and calm any expectations you may have had for your baby.

There are of course occasions where excessive crying for more than 3 hours per day at least 3 times per week (colic) may occur. Causes of colic vary, so If you are worried, speak with your care provider. . . . . #4thtrimester #newborn #postpartum #babysling #babywearing #fourthtrimester #newmum #newmom #postpartum #baby #newbaby #love #skintoskin #pregnancy
