Ever felt that your labia or vulval area I'm general feels swollen during pregnancy? It's actually more common than you think, but rarely spoken about.

Due to increased blood flow to the area, the labia can feel swollen and appear slightly discoloured during pregnancy. Swelling (oedema) can also occur in other places on the body, I've spoken about this on previous posts.

If you feel quite uncomfortable with the Swelling, using cool packs in the evening may be helpful. If you experience any intense itching, unusual discharge or pain along with the swelling, contact your care provider to rule out an infection.

For the vast majority, it doesn't cause any complications and usually resolves fairly quickly after birth.
