Gender disappointment is a thing

Gender disappointment is a thing. Not many people like to talk about it though for fear of being 'ungrateful' or offending women who have have gone through the heartbreak of miscarriage or infertility. If you do feel gender disappointment though, for whatever reason, your feelings are valid. . Some people experience gender disappointment for a variety of reasons. I cared for a woman once who was petrified of giving birth to a girl because her first two girls were stillborn. She was devastated when she learned at her ultrasound that she was having another girl and she tried to detatch herself right up until the birth when of course, she fell in love with her baby girl that was born crying. . I suffered 'gender anxiety' with my 5th pregnancy. I had 4 sons and really wanted a girl. When pregnant with my first, I really didnt care what the sex was but by the time I had 4 boys, I was done with all the 'boy stuff' and as lovely as they are, I wasn't prepared for their boisterous antics! I love all 4 of my boys to the end of the earth but I had to find out the sex of the 5th one during pregnancy as I knew I would be disappointed at the birth if I found out I had given birth to yet another boy. I knew I would ultimately love a 5th boy like all my others but a girl was sooo wanted. As a woman I wanted a daughter, a child who was just like me. My 5th child was a girl.
Gender disappointment and gender anxiety doesn't neccessarily mean you wont love your baby. The main worry and priority for mums is the health of the baby, but dont feel guilty for hoping for one sex more than the other, it's more common than you think! . Did you suffer from gender disappointment or anxiety?
