This weight loss is water weight. ⁣ ⁣ 💦 Water weight happens due to couple of reasons. ⁣ ⁣ 🤰Babies grow in a fluid-filled space, called the amniotic sac, in a women’s uterus. This fluid helps to hydrate your growing baby. ⁣ ⁣ 🤱Sometimes women receive large amounts of intravenous fluids during labor. The baby sometimes retains some of that fluid as well. Research shows that the more fluids a women receives, the greater amount of weight loss her newborn may have. ⁣ ⁣ ⚖️It is common to see newborns lose 5-7% of their birth weight by days 3-4. Though up to a 10% weight loss is usually considered okay. ⁣ ⁣ 💁‍♀️Many babies regain the weight within 2 weeks after birth. ⁣ ⁣ 💯This is based on averages. Not all babies lose weight & some babies take longer to regain weight. ⁣ ⁣ 👇🏼Did your baby lose weight after birth? Did you know that it is common?⁣ ⁣
