Have you ever flown with a baby or small child?

Have you ever flown with a baby or small child? Sometimes its plain sailing and sometimes its just awful.
Having an infant that is crying because they are restless, ears hurt, hungry or just want off, can be tough. You feel like the whole plane is watching you with daggers whilst you desperately try to settle your baby.
Then theres the toddlers. The ones who want to run up and down the Isle, trying to squeeze past the airline staff and crawl under other passengers seats.
Yeah, been there. It sucks.
I've also been told it's selfish to fly with small children. With that logic, I wouldn't have flown anywhere for the past 22 years as I've always had small children.
Unfortunately I don't have any tips that are guaranteed to keep your child settled but you could try the following:
🛩 Fly at night where possible, keeping them active in the hours that preceed the flight (hopefully they'll sleep)
🛩 Use a pacifier/breast/bottle on take off and descent to ease the ear pressure
🛩 Take plenty of snacks/drinks
🛩 Take plenty of entertainment for young children, particularly on long flights.
On our most recent holiday, it was an 8 hour flight. I took their tablets, colouring books, books, magazines and a couple of small toys they had selected. For 3 and 6 years old, they were amazingly calm throughout.
A few weeks later we took a 45 minute flight to Scotland and I didn't bother taking anything to entertain them. They were restless and hopping around for the duration.
I'd love to hear your experiences of flying with a baby and any more tips for an easy ride!👇🏽👇🏽
