Leg cramps are pretty painful at any time but during pregnancy they seem to be 10 x worse and happen more often, espcially at night! Leg cramps are literally the muscle contracting, usually the calf and not relaxing. Sometimes you can see the miscle change shape! Noone really knows for sure why they happen more often in oregnancy but there have been some theories including lack of calcium or magnesium and fatigue/ dehydration.

If you have leg cramps, try pulling your toes up toward your ankle until it subsides. If you can't manage it yourself, get your partner to help you. Sometimes a good foot massage helps too.

I had them terribly in my last pregnancy to the point when I would leap out of bed in the middle of the night and put my feet on the wall!

Did you suffer with leg cramps and if so, did you find anything that helped?
