This post talks about the sensitive and triggering issue of losing a baby during mid pregnancy.
This was me on June 15th 1998. 17 years old, 21 weeks and 4 days pregnant, going for a routine ultrasound.
I have told my story before and don't speak about it often. I don't think about that sad time in my life very much, but I'll never forget.
Whatever stage you lose a baby, during or after pregnancy, its devastating. Everyone is different, some people want to talk about their baby all of the time. Others would would rather initiate conversation when they want to, or may not want to talk about it at all. Its important to take the mothers/parents lead when it comes to baby loss. Dont avoid the subject as that can be equally as devastating, but if you mention her baby and it appears she doesnt want to talk, dont push. Let her take the lead and be there to support when/ if she needs you.
