"Why are you on Instagram so much, are you actually even a real practising midwife?"
Someone left this comment on one of my posts some time ago and it made me smile and roll my eyes at the same time. I think there seems to be a common misconception that health professionals do nothing but work every hour of every day (or should do), but actually we do have a life too.
I work as a midwife independently now after being part of the NHS for 11 years. I am still bound by the NMC code as I would be if I still worked in a hospital.
Aside from caring for my amazing clients, I care for my family - if anyone watched my recent live, you will see how much my almost 2 year old keeps me on my toes 😂
I like to share knowledge and information on social media, use my platform to raise awareness on certain issues, and also try to have some me time when ever I can (which isn't often)
I love music, dancing, travelling, events - all the things I've promised myself I will do more of as the smallest children get bigger.
Ultimately I am a midwife that wears a lot of hats and its not always easy, but most definitely worth it 🤰🏻🤱🏾
