E N G A G E M E N T

E N G A G E M E N T AKA dropping or lightening . Throughout most of pregnancy, the baby's head (usually) sits in the amniotic sac above the brim of the pelvis. As the third trimester progresses, the head stsrts to descend into the pelvis ready for birth. This is known as engagement, lightening or dropping.
Engagement happens at different times for everyone. For a first pregnancy, you may feel more pressure in the pelvic area and more space in the ribcage at around 32-36weeks. For some however, it's earlier, and for others it may not happen until much later or even in labour! This is especially true for second and subsequent pregnancies. . The time that your baby engages into the pelvis does not predict when you will go into labour. If for example, the head engages at 30 weeks, you still may have another 10 weeks + of being pregnant! . What about you,did you notice that your baby had dropped?
