Some of the fetal positions and presentations in the uterus.

Occiput- back of baby's head Anterior - facing the front Posterior - facing the back

Head down positions:

OA -Occiput anterior LOA - Left occiput anterior ROA - Right occiput anterior OP - Occiput posterior LOP - Left occiput posterior ROP - Right occiput posterior ROT - Right occiput transverse LOT - Left occiput transverse

Optimal positions for vaginal birth are LOA & ROA but the baby can rotate in labour so keep it moving where possible!

Breech positions:

Frank breech - bum presents first Complete - bum and feet are presenting Footling - foot presents first

Transverse: laying across abdomen, nothing presenting in pelvis, born by c-section if baby doesn't turn into a head down or breech position by full term.

There are other presentations such as face and brow but these are less common. I have written about these in an older post.
