It takes a team

It takes a team. Sometimes however, all you need is a midwife. Sometimes you may want a midwife and doula. Sometimes you may need a midwife, doula and doctor. . In the UK, midwives facilitate the majority of normal births with doctors intervening if there are any deviations from the norm ie the need for a C-section. Midwives are also popular in Australia but in America, only some states have midwives. Many states have obstetric or labour nurses who care for women in labour with the doctor actually catching the baby at the end! . Doulas are birth workers who support women through the birth and sometimes postpartum period. They may act as a birth partner/ support, advocate, coach and person to go to for non clinical advice. They are not medical professionals but ar invaluable to many women needing extra support during such an important time in their lives. Some studies having shown that having a doula might reduce the risk of ending up with birth interventions and gives the birthing woman a sense of confidence she may not have otherwise had. . During the labour and birth process midwives, doulas an doctors must work together with the best interests of the woman and her baby at the centre of her plan of care. . . . . . . . #pregnancy #birth #hormones #hypnobirthing #doula #midwifery #midwives #studentmidwife #studentmidwives #obstetrics #gynaecology #fertility #labour #childbirth #midwife #waterbirth #homebirth #stress #calm #meditation #yoga #love #beautiful #womanhood #reproduction #doctor
