It will probably be a little while after you give birth before you start planning another baby but you should consider which contraception you want to use before you resume having sex. When you decide to have sex is totally up to you and when you feel comfortable. Some health professionals are old school and advise waiting 6 weeks but ultimately it really is at your discretion! . If you have any perineal wounds that are taking long to heal or are getting over an infection, it would be best to wait until you are totally healed. I would suggest using a condom if you do have sex and havent any longer term contraception in place. When you are around 6 weeks postpartum, visit your doctor/GP to discuss birth control options if using condoms long term are not suitable for you. .
BREASTFEEDING AS BIRTH CONTROL Whilst it is true that EXCLUSIVE breastfeeding MAY delay the release of an egg thus preventing pregnancy in some women, it's not totally guaranteed. Breastfeeding mothers may find their periods take longer to resume - anywhere from 6 weeks to over a year in some. I would still not rely on it 100% though, unless you are happy to have your babies back to back which is what some families want to do! . . . . . . . . #contraceptive #womenshealth #birthcontrol #contraception #reproductivehealth #iud #digitalhealth #beyondthepill #midwife #copper #postnatal #nonhormonal #intimatehealth #femalehealth #contraceptivemethods #intrauterinedevice #intrauterine #postpartum #hormones #womeninfocus #health #nurse #instahealth #hormonefree #parents #birth #copperiud #pearls #methods #gp
