Know your options

Know your options. A birth plan allows a woman to draw up a picture of what she would like to happen throughout the labour and birth experience. She may list preferences regarding pain relief, delayed cord clamping, who cuts the cord, fetal monitoring, giving birth in water and much more. To get to the point of writing a birth plan, she will have more than likely discussed it with her care provider, had discussions with her partner and researched her options. The birth plan is a great way for midwives to see what a womans wishes are and put things in place to help her achieve them. Acting as an advocate regardless if things don't go to plan is one of the many roles of the midwife! Birth plans aren't set in stone, if you put something in your plan and then change your mind or events mean that things need to change then that's ok! . . . . . . . . #midwifery #birth #studentmidwives #childbirth #choice #decisions #informedisbest #birthplan #evidencebasedpractice #professional #mums #healthcare #midwives #students #maternity #pregnancy #pregnantmoment #pregnantwomen #pregnancywork #labour #baby #pregnant
