Our personal experiences shape our views about childbirth. For people who haven't given birth, how birth is depicted through TV dramatisation and testimonials from friends & family, can have a big influence.

Whether it's our own personal birth or the births that we as health professionals have attended, it will in some way shape or form, influence our perspective. For example, a neonatal nurse who looks after sick and premature babies day after day may have a different view to a homebirth midwife that rarely witnesses complications.

Discussing birth can be controversial, whats right for one person isnt always right for another and there are constant debates about what is best.
